O(m logn) Split Decomposition of Strongly Connected Graphs

چکیده
In the early 1980’s, Cunningham described a unique decomposition of a strongly-connected graph. A linear time bound for finding it in the special case of an undirected graph has been given previously, but up until now, the best bound known for the general case has been O(n). We give an O(m log n) bound.

Partially Complemented Representations of Digraphs
A complementation operation on a vertex of a digraph changes all outgoing arcs into non-arcs, and outgoing non-arcs into arcs. This defines an equivalence relation where two digraphs are equivalent if one can be obtained from the other by a sequence of such operations. We show that given an adjacency-list representation of a digraph G, many fundamental graph algorithms can be carried out on any...
متن کاملDecremental Data Structures for Connectivity and Dominators in Directed Graphs
We introduce a new dynamic data structure for maintaining the strongly connected components (SCCs) of a directed graph (digraph) under edge deletions, so as to answer a rich repertoire of connectivity queries. Our main technical contribution is a decremental data structure that supports sensitivity queries of the form “are u and v strongly connected in the graph G \ w?”, for any triple of verti...
متن کاملConnected components algorithms for mesh-connected parallel computers
We present a new CREW PRAM algorithm for nding connected components. For a graphG with n vertices andm edges, algorithmA0 requires at mostO(logn) parallel steps and performsO((n+m) logn) work in the worst case. The advantage our algorithm has over others in the literature is that it can be adapted to a 2-D mesh-connected communication model in which all CREW operations are replaced byO(logn) pa...
متن کاملDistinct edge geodetic decomposition in graphs
Let G=(V,E) be a simple connected graph of order p and size q. A decomposition of a graph G is a collection π of edge-disjoint subgraphs G_1,G_2,…,G_n of G such that every edge of G belongs to exactly one G_i,(1≤i ≤n). The decomposition 〖π={G〗_1,G_2,…,G_n} of a connected graph G is said to be a distinct edge geodetic decomposition if g_1 (G_i )≠g_1 (G_j ),(1≤i≠j≤n). The maximum cardinality of π...
متن کاملMinmax strongly connected subgraphs with node penalties
We propose an O(min{m+n logn,m log∗n}) to find a minmax strongly connected spanning subgraph of a digraph with n nodes and m arcs. A generalization of this problem called the minmax strongly connected subgraph problem with node penalties is also considered. An O(m logn) algorithm is proposed to solve this general problem. We also discuss ways to improve the average complexity of this algorithm.
